I started canoeing as a wee baby with my family, and I’ve never really stopped! I’ve paddled my way through canoe-camping trips in Northern Saskatchewan, Manitoba, BC, Ontario, Quebec, and New York State in all sorts of weather. I was also the flatwater paddling exec for the MOC last year, and I will be again this fall! Other trips (besides Frosh) that I’ve organized with MOC have included deep water soloing shenanigans and a paddleboard jousting tournament!

Ask me about the time I went swimming in the North Atlantic … in March…or the time I hosted a paddleboard jousting tournament…or when we lost the great squirrel war of 2018.

Hi, I’m Liz, one of the canoe frosh leaders, and I’m very excited for frosh to start! I’m from Newtown Square, Pennsylvania and am going into my third year at McGill, studying geography. When not doing schoolwork, I enjoy canoeing, biking, hiking, skiing, running and climbing, which is something I’ve picked up recently. See you in August!!

My hometown, a small one in rural New York, gains a good deal of its charm from the nine mile lake that we’re nestled on the bottom edge of. During the summers, one of the best things to do to avoid the heat and spend time with friends was to go canoeing and kayaking. We spent hours paddling out along our lake, cooling off in the water and stopping for snack breaks and to explore the woods around us. Canoeing will always hold a special place in my heart, and I often find myself thinking back to the warm days I spent on the water as the temperature drops in Montreal!!
